Membership, Baby Dedication, and Communion
CONFESSION OF FAITH: Confession of Faith is for people who are initiating their association with the church. The minister will ask you: "Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and do you accept Him as your Lord and Savior?" BAPTISM: Our congregation practices baptism by immersion for those who have reached an age of understanding and who make a Confession of Faith. If you have been baptized in another tradition, it is not necessary to be immersed. TRANSFER OF MEMBERSHIP: Transfer means you are a member of another church and want to place membership in Highland Park Christian Church. It is not necessary for you to arrange a letter of transfer from your previous church. PARENT/CHILD DEDICATION: Parents may arrange for babies or young children to be dedicated during a worship service. This is a time for parents to give thanks for the birth of a child, and for the congregation to commit itself to providing nurture, love and support for the child and its parents. THE LORD'S SUPPER: Our congregation celebrates the Lord's Supper every Sunday. We practice open communion, which means it is not necessary to belong to this congregation to take communion with us.
