The Rev. Dr. John B. Holcombe, Jr., arrived in Des Moines the first of December 1997 to become the Senior Minister at Highland Park Christian Church (Disciples of Christ.)
John comes to Des Moines from Chatanooga Tennessee, where he was Senior Minister at First Christian Church, (Disciples of Christ.)
He previously served at Altoona Christian Church, Altoona, Iowa, and First Christian Church in Independence, Missouri.
John received his Bachelor of Music degree in 1969 from Florida state university--his Master of Divinity degree in 1979 and his Doctorate in 1980 from Lexington Theological Seminary. He was ordained in 1979.
John's wife, Gail B. Holcombe has a R.N. degree in Health Ministry and served the Independence church in that capacity. They have two married sons who make their homes in the south.
